SIS goes 1-5 in duals with a 7th place finish at the Coon Rapids Team Tournament

The SIS wrestling team has just finished up their second week of competition for the 2018-2019 season. It was a busy week with a total of 6 duals over 2 days.

Thursday (12/6): The SIS wrestling team headed down to South St.Paul for a  Quad against South St. Paul, Wayzata, and Mahtomedi. All of these teams had tough line ups from top to bottom and SIS walked away with a loss in all three duals.

Saturday (12/8): The SIS team then headed up to Coon Rapids on Saturday for the first team tournament on the year. SIS Wrestling started the day off by wrestling Northfield, ranked 10th as a team in AAA, and took a tough loss, 77-0. The team then fell to the back-side of the bracket and lost that dual against Hibbing by a score of 55-21. SIS then finished the day off strong with a solid performance against Westfield (Hayfield-Blooming Prairie), winning 47-36, and finishing 7th in the tournament.

Highlight: Nik Strasser is our wrestler of the week for beating his first ever ranked wrestler in his match against South St.Paul on Thursday!

Outlook: The team comes back for 4 days of practice before heading over to White Bear Lake on Friday (12/14) for a Quad with White Bear Lake, Little Falls, and Cretin-Durham Hall.
